If you ask my dog, Cooper, he’ll tell you the best day of his life is any day we spend outside. But there’s something special about those mornings at a campsite where the air is crisp, the coffee is hot, and the only thing on the schedule is “find a good trail.”

I’ve had solo trips before, and they’re great for “finding yourself,” but having a dog by your side changes the vibe completely. They don’t care about your gear specs or how many miles you’ve covered; they just care about the smell of the damp earth and the fact that you’re together.
It makes me slow down. Instead of racing to the peak, I find myself stopping to look at things Cooper finds—a weird-looking stick, a rustle in the bushes, or just the way the light hits the creek.
At EverGears, we talk a lot about “preparedness,” but the best way to prepare for a trip with your dog is to bring a little extra patience and a lot of treats. Seeing that wagging tail at the end of a long hike is better than any sunset photo you could ever take.
Life is short, but the memories we make with our furry trail buddies last forever. If you haven’t taken your pup out for a night under the stars yet, this is your sign to pack the extra bowl and just go.
